Privacy Policy

The short version: Your face is never stored. Photos are permanently deleted within 90 seconds of processing. We store ancestry signals, not faces. We never sell your data. Your ancestry data belongs to you — always.

1. Who We Are

fotosíntesis is an iOS application operated by WareActics Corporation, doing business as Agentic Ancestry, incorporated in the State of California, located in Irvine, California, USA.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the fotosíntesis app, website (fotosíntesis.com / agenticancestry.com), or related services. By using fotosíntesis, you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address, username, account creation date, and subscription status (Free / Heritage / Heritage+). Authentication is handled by Amazon Cognito.

2.2 Ancestry Scan Data — Biometric Processing Policy

Photo deletion guarantee: Your face and body photos are permanently deleted within 90 seconds of AAS processing. We do not store face images, body photos, or any pixel-level visual data — ever, for any reason.

What we DO store:

  • Ancestry feature vectors — mathematical numerical representations of physical trait measurements (not reversible into photos)
  • Master Ancestry Score — your ancestry percentages by region
  • Scan confidence scores and timestamps

2.3 Survey Responses

If you complete the 40-question AAS Survey, your responses (hair texture, eye color, self-reported physical traits) are stored as part of your ancestry profile and used solely to compute your Master Ancestry Score.

2.4 Heritage Ecosystem Activity

If you use Heritage features, we store your Heritage Group memberships, social feed posts and reactions, Family memberships, and user-to-user interactions within the platform.

2.5 Device and Usage Data

We collect device type, iOS version, app version, crash reports, and anonymized feature usage patterns. We do not collect GPS location. We do not build behavioral advertising profiles.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide AAS ancestry analysis and return results to you
  • To operate your ancestry profile and Master Ancestry Score history
  • To operate the Heritage Ecosystem (Groups, Families, social feed)
  • To send transactional communications (account verification, subscription confirmation, service notices)
  • To improve fotosíntesis using anonymized, aggregated usage patterns
  • To enforce our Terms of Service and detect misuse

We do not use your data for behavioral advertising, third-party marketing, or data brokerage.

4. What We Will Never Do

fotosíntesis will never: store your photos beyond 90 seconds · sell or trade your personal or ancestry data · share ancestry results with employers, insurers, or governments · use your imagery to train AI models · use facial recognition to identify you · share data with advertising brokers

5. Data Sharing and Third Parties

AWS (Amazon Web Services) — cloud hosting, authentication, database, and storage. Data stored in us-east-1. Bound by AWS data processing addendum.

Apple Inc. — all subscription payments via Apple App Store (StoreKit 2). We receive only subscription status — no payment card data.

We may disclose data if required by lawful court order, and will notify you where legally permitted.

6. Data Retention

  • Photos / images: Permanently deleted within 90 seconds — no exceptions
  • Ancestry feature vectors and scores: Retained while account is active; deleted on account deletion
  • Survey responses: Retained with your account; deleted on account deletion
  • Account data: Purged 30 days after account deletion

7. Your Privacy Rights

Access: Request a copy of your personal data — privacy@agenticancestry.com

Correction: Update account info in-app or via email request.

Deletion: Delete your account from Settings → Account → Delete Account. All ancestry data purged within 30 days.

Data Export: Request a JSON export of your ancestry data — email "Data Export Request" to privacy@agenticancestry.com

California CCPA/CPRA: Rights to know, delete, correct, opt-out of sale (we don't sell data), and non-discrimination. Submit requests to privacy@agenticancestry.com with subject "California Privacy Request."

8. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

fotosíntesis is not intended for users under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided data to us, contact privacy@agenticancestry.com immediately.

9. Security

All data transmission uses TLS 1.2+ encryption. Data at rest uses AES-256 via AWS. Authentication uses Amazon Cognito with secure token management. Access to production systems is restricted to authorized personnel only.

10. Changes to This Policy

We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notice at least 14 days before changes take effect. The effective date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent revision.
